The characteristic method and the related fixed point problem analysis of a Hamilton-Jacobi type equation

The Cartan-Monge geometric approach to the characteristic method for nonlinear partial differential equations of first and higher orders is analysed within the modern differential-geometric methods. The structure of characteristic vector fields, related with classical and generalized solutions of nonlinear Hamilton-Jacobi type partial differential equations is studied, some interesting examples are presented.
